Kedron is one of Oshawa’s northernmost neighbourhoods, located between Conlin Road to the south and Highway 7/Winchester Road to its north. The eastern border of Kedron is Townline Road, while the western border runs diagonally through north Oshawa’s east end, just west of Ritson Road. Highway 407 crosses through the northeast of Kedron, and is accessible from Harmony Road just north of the neighbourhood.
In Kedron you will find large detached family homes, some on regular sized lots and others on very large lots. Skewing higher in price range than many other neighborhoods in Oshawa, in this neighborhood you will easily find larger 3, 4, and even 5 bedroom homes.
Kedron is one of Oshawa’s hidden gems. Save for the westernmost portion, the majority of Kedron is still undeveloped.
However, that will change quickly in the coming years. With the eastward extension of Highway 407, the land around the highway is prime for affordable suburban development, offering new neighbourhoods that provide easy access to Toronto at more affordable Oshawa prices compared to the western cities of Durham Region.
While currently home to spacious single family homes, development plans for Kedron are likely to include a mix of homes, townhomes, semi-detached homes, apartments, and multi-family units, while still maintaining Durham prices unimaginable in the heart of Toronto.
That development is expected to be home to 22,000 new Oshawa residents within the coming years. With that population influx, Kedron is also the potential new home to four new elementary schools, a secondary school, and other commercial and retail developments. Residents in search of local shops or big box retail will likely have to look no further than north Oshawa, although the Oshawa Centre mall will only be a short drive away.
Yet Kedron’s rolling landscapes will not be completely lost to suburban sprawl. Kedron Dells golf club opened on Ritson Road in 1974, and has remained family owned for nearly half a century. The 155 acre course is open to members only, but its rolling landscapes will provide a prized view for the real estate development to come.
It may look relatively empty now, but Kedron is definitely one of Oshawa’s neighbourhoods to watch as it develops through the next decade.
