Farewell, Oshawa – Neighborhood Information
One of Oshawa’s southernmost neighbourhoods, Farewell is bordered on its south by Lake Ontario and the Oshawa Harbour, and to the east by McLaughlin Bay/Second Marsh, which continues eastward into Darlington Provincial Park. The western border of Farewell runs alongside Lakeview Park and Simcoe Street, and then moves eastward until it reaches its northern border at Highway 401.

The Oshawa Museum, located at the bottom of Simcoe Street, is comprised of three original Oshawa homes that are nearly 200 years old, one of which is fully restored to resemble life in Oshawa’s earliest days. The Museum also contains the city’s archives, and is open 7 days a week during the summer and Monday through Friday for the rest of the year.
While the proximity to the 401 and the Oshawa GO offer commuters easy access into Toronto, the neighbourhood is also minutes from Oshawa’s economic engine. While the soon-to-close GM plant is just west of Farewell in Lakeview, General Motors’ Canadian corporate headquarters are just steps east of Farewell, on Colonel Sam drive just north of McLaughlin Bay. GM’s corporate offices employ over 300 workers who for decades have been the driving force behind Canada’s automotive industry.
