The West Shore neighbourhood boundaries is the Petticoat Creek to the west, highway 401 to the north, Frenchman's Bay to the east, and Lake Ontario to the south. It is a large waterfront neighborhood in south Pickering. The total area of the neighbourhood is 3.68 square kilometres, and includes the western part of Frenchman’s Bay, the northern part of the Petticoat Creek Conservation Area, and a conservation area south of Sunrise Avenue, known as the Rotary Frenchman's Bay West Park.
One of the oldest neighborhoods in Pickering, residential development in West Shore started as early as 1900 and continued to the 1940s. Even more development followed in the 1960s with subdivision activity.
